Even the cleanest, best-tested MOD APK can occasionally misbehave. The good news is that almost every Spotify MOD problem falls into one of a dozen well-understood categories, and each one has a known fix. This guide walks through the 12 issues we see most often in our support channel, ranked by frequency, with step-by-step solutions that actually work in 2026.
Work through the fixes in order — start with #1, then #2, and so on. Most users find their answer within the first three.

v9.1.82.2217 is the most stable release of 2026. Free download, no signup.
⬇ Download Latest MOD APKFix 1 — Clear Cache & Data (Resolves 40% of Issues)
Android's app data can become corrupted, especially after Spotify pushes a server-side update that the MOD hasn't caught up with yet. Clearing the cache and data resets the local state and forces a fresh sync.
Steps: Go to Settings → Apps → Spotify → Storage. Tap "Clear Cache" first. If that doesn't fix the issue, return and tap "Clear Data". Note: clearing data will log you out, so have your Spotify password handy.
Fix 2 — "App Not Installed" Error
This error almost always means there's an existing Spotify installation with a conflicting signing certificate. You can't have the official Spotify and a MOD APK installed simultaneously — they sign with different certificates and Android refuses to update one with the other.
Steps: Uninstall the existing Spotify app first (you'll lose downloaded songs but your cloud playlists are safe). Then install the SpotiMod APK fresh from our download page. If you had a previous MOD installed from a different publisher, uninstall that one too.
Fix 3 — "Could Not Play This Song" on Every Track
This is the classic region-lock error. Spotify restricts some content to specific countries based on licensing deals. If your IP address appears to be in an unsupported country — or if your VPN is set to one — playback will fail with this message.
Steps: Connect a VPN to the US, UK, Germany, or another major Spotify market. Then clear the app's cache (Fix 1). Reopen Spotify — your library will re-sync with the new region, and playback should resume normally. If you're already on a VPN, try disconnecting — some VPNs are flagged by Spotify's anti-fraud system.
Fix 4 — Login Keeps Looping / "Something Went Wrong"
If you tap "Log In" and the app returns to the login screen without an error message, you're hitting a session validation failure. This usually means your account has stale session tokens, or your device clock is out of sync.
Steps: First, check that your phone's date and time are set to automatic (Settings → Date & Time → Automatic). Then clear app data (Fix 1). Reopen Spotify and log in. If the loop persists, change your Spotify account password at accounts.spotify.com from a browser — this invalidates all existing session tokens — then try logging in again.
Fix 5 — Premium Features Not Unlocked
If ads still appear, you still can't skip, or downloads are still locked, the MOD didn't patch correctly. This happens when the APK is installed over an older version with a different patch signature.
Steps: Fully uninstall the MOD APK. Download a fresh copy from our homepage. Reinstall. Log in. Premium features should activate within a few seconds of first launch. If they don't, your device may have a leftover configuration file — use a file manager to delete /Android/data/com.spotify.music (this requires root) or clear data and reinstall.
Fix 6 — App Crashes on Launch
If the Spotify MOD crashes immediately after opening, the issue is usually Android version incompatibility or a corrupted install. The latest SpotiMod build supports Android 5.0+ but optimized for Android 9 and newer.
Steps: First, fully uninstall and reinstall. Second, check your Android version — if you're on Android 5 or 6, install an older MOD build (we maintain an archive of legacy versions). Third, check the install logs by running adb logcat | grep -i spotify from a computer with USB debugging enabled; the log output will tell you exactly which library or component is failing.
Fix 7 — Songs Skip Immediately / Buffer Forever
If every song starts and immediately jumps to the next, or buffers endlessly without playing, you're likely hitting a network issue or a corrupted offline download cache.
Steps: Toggle airplane mode on and off. If you're on Wi-Fi, try switching to mobile data (or vice versa). Clear the app cache (Fix 1). If the issue is specific to downloaded songs, delete all offline content (Settings → Storage → Delete downloads) and re-download a single song to test.
Fix 8 — Spotify Connect Not Working
If you can't cast to a Sonos, HomePod, or other Connect device, the MOD's Connect service may have been disabled by Android's battery optimization.
Steps: Go to Settings → Apps → Spotify → Battery → Unrestricted. Then Settings → Apps → Spotify → Special access → Battery optimization → Don't optimize. Reopen Spotify and try Connect again. Also make sure all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Fix 9 — Offline Downloads Won't Sync
Offline downloads are the most storage-intensive feature of the MOD. If they won't sync, you usually have one of three problems: not enough storage, network throttling, or the Download engine is stuck.
Steps: First, ensure you have at least 1 GB of free storage. Second, make sure you're on Wi-Fi or have "Download using cellular" enabled. Third, go to Settings → Storage → Extreme quality, toggle off, then back on. Fourth, force-stop the app and reopen. The download engine will rebuild itself within 60 seconds.
Fix 10 — Battery Drain Is Excessive
The MOD APK should not drain battery significantly more than the official Spotify. If you're seeing abnormal drain, a background service is likely stuck.
Steps: Enable the AMOLED theme (if you haven't already) — it eliminates background gradients that wake the GPU. Disable Canvas looping videos (Settings → Canvas → Off). Disable Bluetooth absolute volume if you're not using it. Force-stop the app once a day. If the drain persists, install a battery-monitoring app like AccuBattery to identify which component is the culprit.
Fix 11 — Music Cuts Out When Screen Is Off
This is an Android battery-saving feature killing the Spotify background process. It's especially common on Xiaomi (MIUI), Huawei (EMUI), and OnePlus (OxygenOS) devices.
Steps: Go to your phone manufacturer's battery settings and add Spotify to the "no restrictions" or "unrestricted apps" list. On Xiaomi: Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Spotify → Autostart → Enable. On OnePlus: Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → Spotify → Don't optimize. On Samsung: Settings → Apps → Spotify → Battery → Unrestricted.
Fix 12 — Everything Else (Nuclear Options)
If none of the above fixes work, you have one of three remaining options:
- Install an older MOD build. Sometimes a recent Spotify server-side update breaks compatibility with the latest MOD. We maintain an archive of older builds that work with previous Spotify server versions.
- Re-flash a fresh MOD APK. Download a fresh copy from our homepage, uninstall the current one, clear all related files, then install the new APK. Sometimes files in transit get corrupted.
- Use the ReVanced build. If you're a power user, the ReVanced project lets you build your own patched Spotify APK locally with exactly the patches you want. The process is documented in detail on the ReVanced GitHub.
Still Broken?
If you've worked through all 12 fixes and the MOD still isn't working, the issue is almost certainly specific to your device, network, or account. Reach out to us on Telegram with the following information: device model, Android version, MOD version, error message, and the steps you've already tried. Most issues can be resolved in a single back-and-forth exchange.
You can also check our homepage for the latest build — we publish fixes and improvements weekly, and the version you downloaded last month may have a known issue that's been resolved in the latest version.
Always Use the Latest Version
Each new build includes dozens of fixes for the issues in this guide. Update today.
