If you've been on the Spotify MOD scene for a while, you know that "latest" isn't always best. Older devices struggle with the newest features, certain Android skins fight with the latest builds, and sometimes a regression in a recent Spotify MOD update pushes users back to a known-good version. We've maintained an archive of every major Spotify MOD APK release since 2024 — and in this guide, we'll walk through which one to choose and how to install it safely.
The archive is regularly updated. Each entry below has been tested within the last 30 days against the current Spotify server-side protocol. If a build stops working, we mark it as "Deprecated" in the version table.
Need the Latest Instead?
Most users should start with the newest build. Free download below.

There are several legitimate reasons to install an older Spotify MOD APK instead of the latest one:
- Device compatibility — Older Android phones (Android 5.0–7.0) may not run the newest MOD build smoothly. The 8.x series MODs are optimized for legacy devices.
- UI preference — Some users dislike Spotify's UI redesigns (Home feed in 9.0, AI DJ in 9.1). Older MODs preserve the previous look.
- Bug avoidance — A recent MOD build may have a regression on a specific device or chipset. Downgrading to the previous known-good version is the fastest fix.
- Battery or data savings — Older MOD builds have fewer background services and consume less battery and data on entry-level devices.
- Compatibility with sideloading tools — Some older Magisk modules, microG builds, or custom Android ROMs work best with specific Spotify MOD versions.

Which Version Should You Choose?
If you're unsure which version to install, use this decision tree:
For modern phones (Android 10+)
Install the latest build — v9.1.82.2217. You'll get every Premium feature unlocked, the smallest APK, and the longest support window.
For older phones (Android 7–9)
Install v9.1.22.1244 or v9.1.0.1062. These are the last 9.1.x builds that fully support legacy Android skins without the storage permission changes that broke things on Android 11.
For very old phones (Android 5–6)
Install v8.9.42.586. This is the last build with full Android 5.0/6.0 support — the 9.x series requires APIs not present on Android 5.x.
For specific bug avoidance
If the latest build crashes on your specific device, try v9.1.60.1970 — it's the last build before the AI DJ v2 integration, and avoids the canvas playback regression that affected Mali-G610 GPUs.
For minimal data / battery usage
Install v8.7.0.158 or any v8.6.x build. These have the smallest APK size, no AI DJ, no Canvas, and lower background data consumption.
How to Install an Older Version
The process is identical to installing the latest version, with one extra step:
- Uninstall your current Spotify MOD — you can't downgrade over a newer build because the signing certificate and version code conflict. Use Android Settings → Apps → Spotify → Uninstall.
- Download the older APK from our archive (links in the table above).
- Enable Unknown Sources if you haven't already (Settings → Apps → Special access → Install unknown apps).
- Install the older APK as a fresh install.
- Log in with your Spotify account. Your playlists, follows, and library will sync from the cloud.
Risks of Using an Old Version
Older MOD builds aren't without risks. Three things to keep in mind:
- Security patches. Spotify periodically updates its security model. Older builds may not include patches for vulnerabilities that were fixed in newer releases. If you handle sensitive data or use Spotify on a work device, prefer the latest build.
- Catalog compatibility. Spotify adds new songs, albums, and podcasts weekly. Older builds occasionally have trouble with the newest metadata formats — typically a minor issue (e.g. new Canvas formats not rendering), but rare edge cases can prevent playback of certain tracks.
- Server protocol changes. Spotify updates its API protocol every few months. Very old MOD builds may stop working entirely when Spotify deprecates an old protocol version. We mark such builds as "Deprecated" in the table above.
Hash Verification (For Paranoid Users)
If you want to verify the integrity of any APK in the archive, we publish SHA-256 hashes for every build. Compute the hash on your device using a tool like SHA Checker (Android) or sha256sum (Linux/macOS), and compare it to the value listed on the download page. If they match, you have the exact file we uploaded — bit-for-bit identical, no man-in-the-middle tampering.
Final Thoughts
Most users should stick with the latest SpotiMod build. It's the most stable, the most secure, and the most feature-complete. But the archive exists for a reason — sometimes an older version is the right answer. Whether you're troubleshooting a device-specific bug, running a low-end phone, or simply preferring the older UI, our archive has you covered. Download with confidence knowing every build has been virus-scanned, hash-verified, and tested on real hardware before publication.
